A proof of ownership document is a PDF confirming that a blockchain address belongs to your legal entity, for a regulator, auditor, bank, or counterparty. You can create one for any address registered to your own legal entity. It uses Address Registry data, so your workspace must participate in Address Registry.

What you can do through the API

Step 1: Check the address

Look up the address and check proofOfOwnershipAvailable in the response. When it is true, creating the document is likely to succeed. See Look up an address.

Step 2: Create the document

Send the address. It must resolve to your workspace, in the same format as the lookup endpoint. The request accepts an optional Idempotency-Key header, valid for 24 hours.
The PDF is returned base64-encoded in pdf. Save the PDF as soon as you receive it. Fireblocks does not store it, and there is no way to download it again.

Errors

500 and 503 return the same error code; use the HTTP status to tell them apart.

Limitations

  • Your own addresses only: the address must be registered to your own legal entity.
  • No re-download: Fireblocks does not store the PDF.
  • Address Registry limitations apply: not available on European or Swiss-hosted workspaces, or on Developer Sandbox workspaces.
